Arguments about the decline of social class: More post secondary institutions have opened up which help individuals get better paying jobs. After world war 2 pockets of poverty were eliminated and disparities seemed inevitable. Rapid social and economic change due to post modern society provided young people with more opportunities to shape their own destinies. Those with advantaged backgrounds can afford university and are more likely to not take courses that will not help them in securing a spot in university. As well they get more encouragement from teachers. Advantaged background individuals are more likely to be exposed to experience that will help them with education e. g. fine arts, books and beliefs. Family social status and the programs in which youth partake in high school has a strong relationship.
