Synopsis: the animated short film, chairmen presents viewers an allegorical portrait of a society where men have lost their independence in the same society, which restricts their freedom. The short film, chairmen is essentially an allegorical film which can be interpreted in several way to reveal a hiding meaning, in this case both a social and political one. Throughout the duration of the film, chairs are the primary allegorical tools, which are portrayed as a symbol of success. The film portrays the idea that without the possession of a chair, one becomes a social outcast and ultimately loses his independence as a male. Thusan will go more in depth in regards to the significance of the use of chairs as an allegorical tool in this film to signify the political meanings, which have been articulated. The film revolves highly around 3 themes: the idea of power, time, privilege and the weight of social norms.
