I believe the judge made the right decision, the witnesses were not credible. The public needs to realize that people rarely act rationally during or after a traumatic incident. The brain often kicks into survival mode at this point and although most people talk about flight or fight" a very common response to traumatic events, emergencies, and other dire situations us to freeze to shut down. Many reasons that survivors of sexual assault do not act the way people think they should. The public needs to accept that you can rarely determine what happened to someone based on their demeanour or behaviour"s either during or after an alleged trauma. Human condition as a counter intuitive as all this may seem, my mantra, as a psychologist has long been: the irrational always has a rational explanation .
