Experimented with vatious drugs (mushrooms, lsd, ecstasy ) These served to push down the anxieties life and quiet the everyday fear of failure. These did not provide distraction from or suppression of everday concerns; they made them completely vanish. The high made the fear of failure go away. Despite being a successful student, employee, and romantic partner, she began to feel that she was "home" when she felt this reflief. At first, she could go "a few weeks" without any oxycontin. But then she began to feel stomach and respiratory discomfrt if she went without it for that long. She also started needing higher doses, which was outside of her (and her boyfriend"s) price range So she switched to heroin, whch was much cheaper (and stronger) than opioids.
