Biopsychosocial approach acknowledges the interplay between biological, psychological, and social influences. Utilizes prevalence of mental disorders and assesses patients along multiple axes (dimensions of functioning) Involve a wide range of factors including medical history, functioning in daily life. Our main focus in this chapter is axis i. Conditions that are long-standing and shape a person in their everyday functioning. Scale from 10 to 100 used to rate functioning in activities such as school, occupation, family life (or 0 to 100 is found too) *most highly functioning person has a gaf of 90-100 range. Mathematics disorder tells us little beyond difficulties learning math.
