Human development - how & why we change. Development psychology: study of how behaviour changes over the life span, several challenges arise when examining human development. Post hoc fallacy: logical error where you assume that a causes b because b came after a, one event occurred because of another event, that must have caused it. Example such as : most kids get autism after being vaccinated therefore the vaccination caused it. Bidirectional in uences: human development is almost always a two-way street : developmental in uences are bidirectional, children development in uences their experiences , but their experiences also in uence their development. Children with certain genetic predispositions often seek out and create their own environments. !1: gene expressions : activation or deactivation of genes by environmental experiences. Cognitive development: study of how children acquire the ability to learn, think, reason, communicate and remember. Gradual: sudden spurts in knowledge followed by a relatively stable period - ah-ha moment.
