Although introspecion was not used during the era of behaviourism, the study of consciousness returned as part of the cogniive revoluion". Seing prioriies for mental funcioning: atenion (1) explain how experiments on dichoic listening can be used to study atenion. (2) describe the concept of automaicity. (3) outline research on the inluence of subliminal messages. Atenion the internal processes people use to set prioriies for their mental funcions. The link between consciousness and atenion: o o. Because we have a limited capacity to process informaion, we cannot be consciously aware of everything at once. Therefore, to a large extent, the contents of our conscious experiences are the things to which we pay atenion. A person is presented with two streams of auditory informaion and asked to shadow" one of them.
