Although introspection was not used during the era of behaviourism, the study of consciousness returned as part of the cognitive revolution". Attention the internal processes people use to set priorities for their mental functions. Because we have a limited capacity to process information, we cannot be consciously aware of everything at once. Therefore, to a large extent, the contents of our conscious experiences are the things to which we pay attention. Attention sets what you are consciously aware of. A person is presented with two streams of auditory information and asked to shadow" (i. e. , to repeat back) one of them. These studies attempt to investigate how much information people can pay attention to at once (how much we can hold in conscious awareness), as well as what happens to material that we cannot pay attention to.
