Guess at integrating 2 conflicting sources of information: rubber hand illusion shows how our senses of touch and sight interact to create a false perceptual experience. A researcher simultaneously strokes the participant"s hidden hand and rubber hand gently with a paintbrush. Broadbent tested his theory using task called dichotic listening in which participants hear 2 different messages, one delivered to left ear and one to the right. Then, in middle of video, woman dressed in gorilla suit walked across for full 9 seconds. Ex class video we watched of switching people while asking for a photo: the binding problem: one of the great mysteries of psychology. Completely white objects reflect all of the light shone on then and absorb none of it, whereas black objects do the opposite. Controls size of pupil (& therefore light intake) by dilating & constricting. Controls how much light enters our eyes: pupil: circular hole through which light enters the eye.
