That"s why they are concerned about the viewers. More viewers = more profits: not really challenging or thoughtful products are created by private owned news, public news networks do not have to care about audience a lot. Bbc specifically cares a lot about quality rather than views. They do not have to dumb it down: young children are becoming more popular in media because that"s where the audience is, elder audience is not really considered. They don"t want to do it (costs money) but are forced. Because government thinks its good to have canadian made films (creating jobs, or educating canadian public on culture and society). Government thinks we are loosing our culture due to our americanisation (through media): u. s. a: people are not overwhelmed by foreign film because everything is. There were censorships and rule against sexual material. Movies would"ve been banned (too much violence, sexual content, gore etc ).
