The greek believe that being a part of politics made you a better person because you were able to relate to other people and understand the problems they were facing. This process lasted for about 100 years until athens was conquered by another city state and democracy fizzled out and reemerged a long time after: politics can be defined as a decision making mechanism for society. It is a system of institutions and processes that make decisions: 15 000 years ago, decisions made in the small hunter gatherers societies were basic.
