Big companies (most of these are owned by larger corporations: disney (disney corporation - also owns abc, 8 resorts around the world, disney stores - Robert mcchesney - did a lot of writing on media and democracy. On average the major studios mentioned above release 10-15 movies a year (not as much as they used to) In the last thirty years, the studios got involved with the distribution of independent films (saw the potential for huge profit) Blair witch project cost ,000 to make - when it was released it made million. The studio saw the return was better than the return on larger films (the films cost next to nothing to make but made millions of dollars. Pink flamingos (note: do not watch this movie)
