How come workers are supporting views of capitalism (against their benefits) There is a cultural thing happen which penetrates ideas: ideas are not born of the individual . How people see the government, state, community, country. Sense of political competence and a feeling that one can have impact on the system. How people see institutions (police, courts, schools) and state intervention (laws, rights, economy) When you are a populous you don"t trust. Explains policies, political tone, constraints and possibilities (if a culture is more open, than politicians can do different things), sets limits, explains odd or self-destructive policy positions. Skeptical about the business gender equity was quite high in areas where they weren"t that great. America: class blind, egalitarian, contesting, anti-statist, individualist. Majority rule with minority rights being protected. Charter rights for women, minorities and aboriginals. Pluralistic society and believe government has role in building fair country.
