Document Summary

Sometimes we do statistical tests with one variable. ie we calculate the average age of people in the study. Sometimes we calculate with two variables. ex; we see if there is a relationship between gender and violence scores. Contingency tables (crosstabs) is an example of a bivariate stats test . Between nationality and exercising: variables must be nominal or ordinal, results displayed as cells . Used when researchers want to examine the relationship between two variables. Ex: researchers are interested in studying the relationship between hours of sleep at night and driving reaction time. The results of the correlation coefficient test can only range in value from 1 to +1. The correlation test measures the degree and the direction of the linear relationship. Pearson"s correlation coefficient is a commonly used statistical test for correlation. This test is only used for interval or ratio data. The spearman test is used when data is at the ordinal or nominal level.
