NUR 80A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Nursing Theory, Imrad, Literature Review
Document Summary
There are 5 interpretative dimensions for a qualitative study: Credibility whether the results of the study are actually believable and the author provided enough evidence to support it. Meaning the interpretations that the researcher finds should be closely scrutinized and one should consider other possible explanations to the findings and take into account any limitations the study may have presented. Implications think about further research (ex: should the study be taken in a different setting), do they have implications for nursing practice, and if the findings incorporate nursing theory. The research critique is not about what the study summarizes but looking at its merits and flaws (both are important). The three main types of critique that are valuable to nursing practice include: Critiques by students to demonstrate their skills. Make sure to give specific examples from the report. Make an educated judgment on whether or not the article is strong or weak on each examples.
