Gender in rock: masculine con dence though androgyny, idea that we are so masculine we can dress feminine, this is a performance -> women can act, dress and perform the same way and still be rock musicians. Articulation: a way of thinking about the connections between music makers and audiences, links aren"t biologically determined - everyone involved in the music creates the meanings and connections, not just the musicians: record labels, marketing dept. , media.
