Employee orientation (onboarding): a procedure for providing new employees with basic background information about the rm and the job. Socialization: the ongoing process of instilling in all employees the prevailing attitudes, standards, values, and patterns of behaviour that are expected by the organization. Reality shock (cognitive dissonance): the state that results from the discrepancy between what the new employee expected from his or her new job & the realities of it. Reduce: turnovers, errors, need for discipline, grievances, anxiety. Merged or acquisitions (eg. taco bell & kfc) Personalize learning: meaningful material, maximize similarity & training to job, motivate trainees. The employees is assessed to see if training is required. Verify any performance de ciencies & determine whether they are best resolved through training or other means. Prepare curriculum, ensure that training materials support learning objectives & the quality and effectiveness of program elements. Job instruction training (step by step instructions) Classroom training (someone teaches to large group of people)
