Lecture 5: structure of union organizations (part of reading j) How job security has gone down, wages not going up fast enough. In a workplace, is when companies are outsourcing for supplies that companies don"t have to make themselves. This leaves us with a lead firm . Underneath there are branches of other small organizations that give them their parts that is needed. However that also causes problems for those small org. Because it is very competitive since they are only making one part which others can do. Therefore keeps labour costs low and working conditions get worse, since they can leave those small org. Good for company, since they have more profit, less expenses b/c those small firms are paying their workers less than usually. When an org is split like this, it breaks down fairness to workers, compared to if all workers were under the same roof same org.
