Iso 9000 quality standards program internaional standards to assure customers throughout world that registered suppliers have put in place ceriied management system to ensure quality. Iso 14000 series voluntary standards for environmental management systems, including environmental audits, environmental performance evaluaions, product life cycle assessments and environmental product labelling encourages coninual improvement and consumer publicity of environmental friendly business. Courts have authority to order corporate defendants on sentencing to complete iso/cd 14001 environmental management systems program. Where defendant implements iso program, prosecutor may proceed on fewer charges or court. Legislaion may also be used to require companies in speciic industry sector to implement iso system.
