Damages: award of money that is intended to cure a wrongful event ( i. e breach of contract) Rare cases plainif does not get the exact thing they expected under agreement, only enitled to monetary value of that thing. Back then courts didn"t have power to order someone to pay something other than money. Contracts seen as commercial agreement, only thing that maters is money in commercial. Free low of goods: several years between disputes, meaning a car would sit somewhere, money is easier. Many ways in which court calculates what plainif gets from defendant. Most common form is expectaion damages: monetary value of the beneit that the plainif expected to receive under the contract. Expectaion damages allow the party to remain conident that they will receive at least the monetary value. Expectaion beneits = expected beneits under contract cost under the contract.
