Risk management: risk, identify, who is liable and why, evaluate, probability of risk, respond, manage risk, law, fixes liability, determines when and how much liability / damages, considers whether you mitigated or managed properly. Injuries: personal, third party, property, personal, third party. The nature of law: a set of principles and rules that courts will enforce, a way of thinking (or reasoning) about these principles and rules. It is not just the result of a case (who won?) that matters. The reasons for the result are where law happens. So, it is important to ask why and how , not just who won . Not the same thing: law is formally sanctioned, morality is informally sanctioned. Focus on why something is ethically right or wrong, not just whether it is legal or prohibited. Humza j: common law, makes the rules as you go , civil code is consent, common law decides to what extent consent exists.
