ITM 750 Part B
Part 3: Project Time Management Task 1: New activities on resources and duration estimation
Project management is a project that involves knowledge, skills, and experience to fulfil the
project goals. It’s a project that is ell planned out and organized from the beginning to the
end. It has a clear scope, and many techniques to execute the activities. There are 5 parts to
this process which are initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
Project management manages many areas in this project such as integration, quality, time,
cost, scope, stakeholder management, risk management, human resources, communication,
and procurement.
In this project, there are many people involved who get the work done together. You should
involve the project team, who will work on the project to achieve the project objectives,
project management team, and all the identified key stakeholders to make a consensus
on the milestone dates, delivery schedules as you know you can develo p schedule only
after estiatig the duratio for the project. Estiatig actiity duratio, . For
project management, we need resources to carry out the project tasks. By using resources, we
can take action and use them to complete a task. The goal of activity resource estimating is to
assigs resources to each actiity i the actiity listWatt, 4. Some resources that can be
used in a project plan are equipment (machines), people, facilities, and funding. Duration is
important to estimate in a project because it decides the period and length of a task; it
determines how long a task will continue for. Some of the other methods for the estimation of
activity duration in project management are work breakdown, expert judgement, analogous
estimating, parametric estimating, nominal group technique, and three-point estimating. Some
of the other methods for the estimation of resources are expert judgement, alternative
analysis, published estimating data, project management software, and bottom-up estimating.
Some of the activities we would like to add and thought are needed to help estimate resources
and durations of our project is brainstorming and evaluating alternatives, the critical path
method, and the PERT technique. The first activity, Brainstorming and evaluating would
determine the goals of this project the estimation of resources needed. Creating a list would
help decide what resources are required, project document updates, and a resources
breakdown structure. In this method, everyone from the team must be associated and be ready
to contribute their ideas because the more people we have the better it is because when
everyone has different experiences, it leads to more diverse ideas. The second activity is
developing a critical path method. It is used to forecast total project duration. This task is a
step-by-step project management/network diagram technique which is used for process
planning and to resist schedule overruns, which explains the critical and non-critical tasks. This
process also avoids time-frame and bottleneck issues. The third activity is the PERT technique.
The program evaluation and review technique is a chart that us used to developing schedules,
to coordinate tasks, and to organize. This project management tool used probabilistic time
estimates that create three-point estimates. This is a very useful tool because it reports any risk
