ITM 410 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Data Flow Diagram, System Context Diagram, Business Process
Document Summary
Data flow diagrams portray business process activities, stores of data, and flows of data among those elements. System flowcharts present a comprehensive picture of management, operations, information systems, and process controls embodied in business processes. It"s a graphi(cid:272)al represe(cid:374)tatio(cid:374) of a s(cid:455)ste(cid:373) that depi(cid:272)ts the s(cid:455)ste(cid:373)s (cid:272)o(cid:373)po(cid:374)e(cid:374)ts; the data flows among the components; and the sources, destinations, and storage of data. Do not depict management or operational elements of a system. External entities are those entities (i. e. persons, places, or things) outside the system that send data to, or receive data from, the system.
