Document Summary

But humans are complex, and human conflict deep in our bones is always about what lies below the surface as well as what can be found above. Intractable conflicts meld history, identity, face, worldviews, sacred meanings, and personal filters in a melange that always includes culture as an unacknowledged yet very important layer (lebaron, 2014, p. 581) Any study of conflict and conflict resolution would be remiss without the inclusion of culture and issues of diversity as part of the learning process. After all, how we engage with conflict is intrinsically tied to our cultural habits. Our morals, values and belief systems are shaped by our learned experiences as members of cultural groups, and this affects how we view and deal with conflict. Also, in as much as we are shaped by our culture, our culture shapes the way we see other cultures. We belong to several cultural and social identity groups.
