Tutorial: just go to the hour that you sign up for - group d, tuesday 12-1. Not everybody was progressive in the progressive era; profoundly conservative time. Voters overwhelming voted for liberal candidates in the elections of 1912. Progressive era is a large umbrella term for all the progressive action. Child labor was a big concern of the urban poor; 1. 5m children working in factories in the us. More children workers than those in the american federation of labor. They don"t have their children working because they want them to, they need them to survive. Middle class-reformers passed laws to prevent problems, working-class people wanted legislation that made it so that they would be paid enough to not need their children to work. Middle class americans have the time and resources to bring about change, working class doesn"t have the time or education or skill to seek organized reform.
