To determine durability of blankets: paper textures. Coated paper is smoother than coated paper. Blankets will last longer with less abrasive stocks: ink coverage. 5% ink coverage will last longer vs. 95% ink coverage: ink tack. Ink too sticky will wear out the blanket faster: the impression. Setting too much pressure will wear the blanket out. Pre-scanning: ink fountain keys are set based on digital files. 80% of jobs in the industry use this sequence (kcmy, dark to light) Need to use 50 sheets for ink/water to balance. Must be in 5000 k lighting condition and a neutral gray background (munsell. #8) (5000 k = equal amounts of rgb: position and register of print, quality of print, ink/print balance, color of print. Register: each sheet is being printed on the exact same position. Position: the alignment of the image on the sheet. Black = k, k for key image because black is a key image.
