GRA 324 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Workflow, Cadence Skill
Document Summary
When changes occur in job specs, always consider changes that it will create in the whole workflow and other areas of production: price, delivery date, quality of the job! (**these will be on exam!) Never break a promise or miss delivery dates! 70% of production issues are due to miscommunication. Communicate with customers based on reality, and actual doability: delivery dates must be able to be met! Don"t promise anything you aren"t 100% sure you can keep: always offer a solution! Always keep information: complete, accurate, up to date. Always take this into account: other jobs that are scheduled for that day on that press will all be delayed as well. When scheduling jobs, consider these: paper sizes, paper calipers. Run thicker papers first then thinner; do not keep switching in between because this will increase makeready time ink colours. Run lightest colour first! you will be able to reduce makeready time if you keep these in mind.
