Organizing: the process of arranging people and other resources to work together to accomplish a goal. Organizaion structure: the system of tasks, worklows, reporing and communicaion channels that link together the work of diverse individuals and groups. Organizaional chart: a diagram describing reporing relaionships and the formal arrangement of work posiions within an organizaion. Informal organizaion: a shadow organizaion made up of the unoicial, but oten criical, working relaionships between organizaional members. Helping people overcome limits of the formal structure. Allowing people to gain access to interpersonal networks that saisfy needs for social interacion. Informal learning that takes place as people interact informally throughout the workday. Some informal behaviour works against the best interests if the organizaion as a whole. Diversion of work eforts form important objecives. Feelings of alienaion by outsiders persons who are let out of informal groupings. Departmentalizaion: grouping together people and jobs into work units. Specializaion consistent with professional training- clear career paths.
