A school voucher is a certificate issued by the government, which parents can use towards paying for their child"s tuition at a private school or anywhere else they see fit. School voucher programs have been a very controversial topic for many years now and today each one of you will vote whether you"re for it or against it by the end of our presentation. Sherief talks about taxes and links in to the voucher system. Sherief: in order to understand the issue you have to know the basics of how taxation works here in. All 3 levels of government; federal, provincial and municipal collect taxes of various kinds such as hst and income tax and use it to fund state activity. The 3 levels of government each have their own state responsibilities to fulfill.
