Indigenous peoples are becoming more and more homeless. Last 5-10 years, increase in number of men and women with children who are homeless. 30 000 men, women, and children go to homeless shelters in the city annually. People don"t like living in shelters because: 70 000 households on social housing waiting list. 150 000 households are on brink of homelessness. They spend over 50% of their income on shelter. Get back on track for building these. We need a commitment in the long-run that says yes, canada is going to put this amount towards homelessness every year". No one can get out of homelessness when they"re stuck in shelters. Most of these shelters don"t have proper washrooms. If you"re sel sh and greedy, you also cause issues! Homeless people are sick way more often. If we don"t care about them they"re gonna have more diseases and we pay for their healthcare. 1995: mike harris use taxpayers money to keep homeless.
