Document Summary

Advancement in technology comes with an increase of detrimental effects to human health and the environment; it"s a paradox. Even we have improved quality of living, there"s an increasing amount of environmental issues. Most of the negative effects are non-intended, could be caused by accident or lack of scientific knowledge: e. g. Some reverend predicted that at the rate of population growth, there will be not enough resources (it haven"t materialized because of technology and increased food production) We are unable to properly forecast and diagnose problems, when something happens, we may not be able to use technology to fix it. Three kind of pollutions (degradation of the environment), as a result of some type of contamination. Acute sudden release of highly toxic substance, e. g. release of arsenic/ddt (dichloro-diphenyl trichloro-ethane)(carcinogenic) Chronic release of toxic substance over a long period of time, eutrophication (release of toxic products that causes a large amount of biomass or algae).
