It is a subject of study in many disciplines, such as: economics, sociology, urban and regional planning, geography, business/ marketing/ real estate, transportation, etc. Is its concerned with: population structure/composition, population dynamics, growth/decline due to changes in birth rate/ death rate/ fertility rate and migration, ageing, union/ marriage, distribution, population (cid:498)problems(cid:499) implications for, impact on, economy, service provision, resources, and environment. Population to small: three aspects of population size: absolute, relative (distribution) and density. Too many immigrants from certain parts of the world. Population problem is a value judgment; it is relative in nature; may influence population/economic policies. It does not emphasize individual traits/characteristics, but is concerned with aggregate demographic phenomena/behaviors (individual traits) More narrowly focused on population composition and dynamics; Concerned with the statistical and mathematical aspect of the field. There are the forces of population change in any geography. An interdisciplinary science, studied by different disciplines. Focus on determinants and consequences of demographic changes.
