Cultural relativity states that truths are relative and based on individuals interpretation of situations, facts, observations, etc. Space refers to the extent or area on the earth"s surface; can be concrete or abstract space (how things should be) Distance is the spatial dimension of separation, measured by the cost to overcome distance or the friction of distance. Absolute distance is measure in standard units like cm. Relative distance is measured by time, effort, dollar cost, or psychological hassle. 5 types of distance: linear distance, time distance, cognitive distance- you perception of travel, cultural distance, social distance-physical distance between people during interactions. Directions: relative position of two places or objects in space; can be absolute or relative. Location: a particular position within space; can be absolute like coordinates or relative. Relative locations are often referred to connectedness and accessibility. Characteristics relating to absolute locations are called site characteristics. Characteristics relating to relative locations are called situation characteristics.
