Menu - a list of items, it is the primary control of foodservice operation and is the core to all functions of the system. Service (whether people should serve themselves or people will assist them) Dicates production work and foods to be served. 1)sales tool: customer education: teach children about good nutrition through school lunch program & for instructing hospital patients on modified diets. Takes about 45 min from ordering to receiving the food for spoken menu. A stumbling block to this is that the telephone system is a little expensive. Majority of people order their food at typical meal times (breakfast times 8-10 or lunch times 12-1). This phone call spoken menu service makes sense to offer in places where appetite of patient is dictated on how the patient is feeling at that moment - for example at sickkids hospital.
