31 views3 pages

Document Summary

Beating up: pushes weft yarn into place. Warp is vertical and weft are horizontal; right angles to each other. Warp are more uniform and stronger and have higher twists than weft yarns. More plies are usually in the warp direction. Wefts don"t have to be strong, they are just there to fill the garment. Sometimes there are holes at the edges from the needles. The edge of the fabric where the end of the yarns are out. Usually dyed beforehand but can be printed into the fabric. Problem with printing it is it can shift and be off grain. To tell the difference, flip the fabric over and if it doesn"t have the same stripe pattern than it is printed. Skewed weft is one that is at an angle. Bowed is when its off squared and becomes a curve like a rainbow. Fabric density is another name for it. Warp # + weft # = thread count.
