Document Summary

3 things that would attack the wooden structure (end of 2nd chapter) Termites and carpenter ants will be on the final exam. The other thing that attacks wood is fungus. Both of them are caused by fungus. The spores of the fungus are embryos. Not able to get rid of them. For the spores to germinate and grow, they need 3 things: proper temp, adequate moisture and oxygen: temperature. Fungus will grow in temps between 5-45 degrees celsius. In most of canada we don"t see a lot of fungal growth in the middle of winter. If growing inside the house structure, rot will go dormant in the winter. When spring comes and temps go back up, it starts to reactivate and grow again. Above 45 degrees c, the fungus is killed, we don"t get those temps here in canada, although inside the roof of a building, attic, the temps could get high and reach 45 degrees c: moisture.
