Transactional analysis (ta) theory is basically describing the human personality. Practitioners have a flexible role in ta they are collaborators who share responsibility with their clients for treatment. Ta is the ideal system for those who view the counseling process as teaching. Ta practitioners teach the principles of ta to participants and let them use these principles to analyze and improve their own behaviour. Ta concepts have been taught to people of all ages and ability levels. Counselors try to have a picture of just some of the listed facets of the client: the balance of ego states, the nature of the person"s transactions, the person"s basic position, etc. Berne believed that the concepts used in ta were universal. All people transact their business with others through communicating from each of the three ego states. The focus on feeling is not disregarded, especially when dealing with the giving and receiving of positive and negative strokes.
