97 views3 pages

Document Summary

Professionalism is an area of influence that includes the practitioner"s professional demeanor & their professional relationships with children, youth, families community members & other professionals. A profession requires the mastery of a complex & distinct body of knowledge & skills, & this combination of art & science is used in the service of others. This domain prepares the cyc to be a professional & to demonstrate professionalism in the work that is done. I would have moved into the other professions if i had not had the support of other. That is what the creation of a profession of child & youth care work does, rather than the empty posturing & callow manipulation (observed) by other professions (thomas, 2004, p. 274) Thomas (2004) concludes that without the professionalization of the field, professionalism of the worker is not possible & therefore the struggle to professionalize should continue & practitioners should commit to supporting it.
