Document Summary
Advanced qualitative research methods: approaches to qualitative research. Discuss the dimensions and approaches to qualitative research. Qualitative research properly seeks answers to questions by examining various social settings and the individuals who inhabit these settings. Qualitative researchers, then, are most interested in how humans arrange themselves and their settings and how inhabitants of these settings make sense of their surroundings (berg, 2008) How they make sense, asking ppl and their perspective. Social meaning of actions, circumstances, experiences, situations, contexts. Meaning understood in terms of images, texts, other objects. More in-depth understanding of human behaviours, perceptions, and experiences in terms of the meaning and significance to the subject (the emic vs. the etic/ insider v outsider perspective) Study them in their own env rather than in a lab. If remove, not actually studying how they context affects them. Approach is more important and key instrument. Also uses deductive reasoning, collect more data and observations to see if correlation exist.
