It is a rich and complex field that offers many competing theories and models of what communication is and how it works. The process of communication can be fraught with difficulties and even relatively simple acts of communication can go astray with sometimes negative consequences. It allows you to alter various elements in the process to measure and determine the best ways of reducing noise to ensure the message is properly delivered.
