Visuals that clarify concepts and relationships and that substitute for whenever possible. = transmission of information and meaning from one individual or group to another. Meaning happens when the receiver decodes the message. You are the meaning of everything you read, see, hear, taste, touch, or experience. Noise = barriers to communication = channel & information overload, emotional & semantic & physical/technical interference, mixed messages and channel barriers, environmental interference. Other words for environment = background, context, medium, culture. The communication process is successful only when the audience understands an idea as the sender intended it. Determines how info is used & level of formality + right tone.
