Individuals engage in the world in three different ways. Sociology lecture- week 1: contemplative, action, imagination. We humanize the things around us when we are dissatisfied and move from the first to second level. When you want to change things you move to the third level. Different types of language at each level. Sciences doesn t just rely on intellect for observations and classification it. The arts rely on intellect and not only emotions. Sociology object of study, subject matter is not an object that exists. Intellect and emotions at each level also relies on emotion independent of human action it is a product of human action. Science is not based on direct observation of empirical world observations are preceded from conceptual notion. Language and concepts precede observation then shape observation. Logical positivist wanted the unity of all sciences. No single pardiagm has dominated sociology except orthodox consensus.
