Regular participation in class discussion and debate (30%) 4 short written assignments (4x10%=40%: summary paper; reaction paper; memo; op-ed. What should we expect from one another in terms of input and participation: respect, open, support each other, acknowledge no one has superior opinions, constructive criticism, con dentiality (test thinking, playing devil"s advocate) Belief in supernatural beings or in the set-apartness of particular individuals. A distinction between sacred and profane objects. A moral code bleed to be sanctioned by the gods. Characteristically religious feelings which tend to be aroused in the presence of sacred objects and during the practice of ritual, and which are connected in idea with the gods. Prayer and other forms of communication with the gods. A worldview that contains some speci cation of an overall purpose of the world and an indication of how the individual ts into it. A more or less total organization of one"s life based on the worldview.
