Children/adults with autism do not show an interest in socially interacting w/ others. For some, completely indifferent for other social interaction = adverse. For full-blown autism, there may an impairment of social interaction for some delay in speech acquisition or difficulty communicative. Can repeat what they hear but can"t communicate informative speech or speech that is generated on their own. Some of these children may be obsessed w/ lining their toys in a specific row. Fragile x high # of children w/ fragile x autism. Childhood disintegrative disorder: child developing normally prior to 2 for whatever reason just start losing their skills they may look exactly like autistic children however, they had normal skills but then lost them. Pdd-nos : pediatric developmental delay not otherwise specified- had a # of deficits, but doesn"t neatly fit in these categories they can"t be put in a box. Child may have skills in some areas and deficits in others.
