Document Summary

Explain what intelligence is and how it is measured. Intelligence is made up of many related elements. Intelligence consist of a person"s ability to use neural resources efficiently, synchronize his or her cortical centres, and adapt to change. Intelligence: a collection of higher order mental abilities. Intelligence is a person"s ability to: learn and remember information, recognize concepts and their relations, apply information to one"s own behaviour. Difference in intelligence correlates with difference in brain activity. Make up intelligence: efficient use of neural resources, increasing synchronization between cortical centres, adaption of cortical networks in the face of demands. Make sure intelligence test is capable of making differentiations of interest. Thought to exist due to high correlation between various tests of intelligence. Intelligence quotient (iq): a number used to express the intelligence of a person that is calculated using the ratio of the mental age as reported on a standardized test to the chronological age, then multiplied by 100.
