Document Summary
We have a clear idea of what is good and bad . We also believe there are good people or bad people . We assume it is the bad people who are responsible. We assume they are fundamentally diferent than us. We don"t quesion the large inluences at work. Believes bad behaviour can be explained by the barrel (the situaion) No, the perspecive that the situaion is in control of us is never enough to fully explain behaviour or patern. Social psychologists study the interacions between the person and the situaion. Randomly assigned half to be prisoners and half to be guards. Very realisic (arrested from home, ingerprinted, blindfolded, taken to mock prison. Prisoners formed a rebellion and guards physically subdued the prisoners. One prisoner broke down and was removed. Some guards were abusive and incredibly disrespected. The study had to be terminated at day 6 because it was unethical. Various factors inluence how we see ourselves and others.
