Male & female bodies biological sex. 200-300 years ago, the term sex was used in a very limited manner: the state of being either male or female. About a century ago, it was used more broadly: you could have sex, it can refer to many or all aspects of sexual activity. Now, different terms are used to refer to different aspects of being male & female . Focus today: chromosomes, reproductive organs to create a fetus, hormones testosterone & estrogen, anatomy the external genitals of bodies. Sometimes things don"t go in a linear progression. Sometimes our chromosomes aren"t lined up in certain pairs. Sometimes hormone levels are different than the average male or female . 1 - chromosomal genetic sex: play a large role in sex determination in humans, we contain usually 23 pairs of chromosome, one pair being the sex chromosome pair.
