Hypothesis - skydivers will always score below 27 on mmse (mini mental state exam). Experiment : find consenting skydivers at the skydiver club, administer the mmse, check for any values below 27. Mmse is the dependant variable because it depends on the experiment. Results - one skydiver scored 28 - must now revise experiment. Revised theory - skydivers are of less sound mind than other people. Revised experiment : find consenting skydivers at the skydiver club, and non-skydiving psyc100 students, administer the mmse, compare mmse scores of the two group. Revised results - skydivers got a lower score than controls. However, we changed two things: skydivers vs. non-skydivers, university students vs. non-students. Not in uenced by emotions or personal views.
