Document Summary

How the way that you think about yourself affects your actions and how other people affect the way you think about yourself. Objectives: describe the self-concept and how schemata guide our interpretation of people"s behavior, including our own, explain self-esteem and how people manage their self-esteem. Introduction: social psychology is the scientific study of how individuals" thoughts, feelings and behaviors are influenced by the social context. Self-awareness: the ability to see yourself as a distinct entity, some animals have self-awareness but others do not. It seemed like a good idea at the time: we know we think and feel because we are the ones who possess these thoughts and feelings and can therefore best understand our behavior. Introspection is when people look inward to their thoughts and feelings: when they do this they are not very accurate at explaining why they do the things they do.
