Document Summary
Rogers: summarize the social cognitive approach to personality, describe the five-factor model. Explain the role that heredity and environment (share and unique) play in determining differences in personality traits: summarize the findings from twin studies. This week"s online lesson is on personality and, in particular, the major theories that explain personality. Like the textbook, the online material for this week is organized around these major theories: trait, psychodynamic, humanistic, and social-cognitive. Psychology is the science of behaviour and mental processes, including emotions, perceptions, and memory. Personality is a particular pattern of behaviour and thinking that prevails across time and situations and differentiates one person from another. In other words, a lot of what makes you who you are is your personality. Psychologically speaking, you are made up of behaviours and mental processes, all of which can be observed or measured and all of which are affected by both evolution and learning factors.
